Revalidation

Revalidation allows licensed doctors to show that they are fit to practise and up-to-date. One of the key elements of revalidation is the annual appraisal process.

The information required for appraisal includes:

  • Keeping up-to-date (CPD) – information demonstrating how a doctor maintains and enhances the quality of his/her work
  • Audit of Personal Practice – information demonstrating that a doctor participates in activities that review and evaluate the quality of his/her work

The courses we offer at the SCSCHF can form a part of the evidence required for appraisal. For consultants in Anaesthesia we currently offer courses in paediatric anaesthesia (MEPA-FC) and obstetric anaesthesia (SCOATS).For consultants in Emergency Medicine we offer a course in Obstetrics in EM (TOPEM), Paediatrics in EM  (SCiPE) and Meningitis in EM (Meningococcal Disease). For consultants in  Paediatrics we offer a course on Meningitis (Meningoccal Disease).

We are also able to provide bespoke courses for other specialties and are constantly expanding our range of courses. Please contact us with any queries or suggestions: fv.scschf@nhs.scot
